Inspired after a fabulous trip to Sutherland. The stunning Summer Isles looked wonderful in a shaft of summer light in the late afternoon. I was brought to tears as we drove over the hill before descending downwards towards the coast . I remember an immense sense of heaviness for the people of this shore who sailed to the Americas after the clearances, how painful that initial separation must have been.
